I get a very fast response when I enter a forum or examine a topic, much faster than on many other discussion boards.

Is this due to the software being used, a very high speed server, or something else?

It\'s just that Fernanda\'s server is located at a place where the time runs faster...

I believe the forum is a php front end backed by a sql backend. Pretty light load for any P4. Having a T3/LAN running to it doesn\'t hurt either.

Might be part of I2. I don\'t know.

before the latest upgrade we were running on a dual Xeon server. But due to costs associated with such services and the sheer lack of funding (read ZILCH), I was forced to go to a lesser yet impressive Celeron server of another forum I help run (http://www.winforums.org)

So it\'s part XMB, which is light in graphics etc, and a dedicated server.

One day, when donations hit a feverish pitch, I\'ll buy a license for vB forums and upgrade us. In the meanwhile, we\'ll have to contend ourselves with free XMB...which though it lacks preferences, it makes up for them in cost....or lack thereof.
