Hi,
I am Bradley Meyerowitz,
and was just wanting to know whether you could help me with my science project.
I know that a 45 degree angle produces the maximum distance if air resistance is neglected. Is the angle for maximum distance the same, less, or greater than 45 degrees if air resistance is accounted for?

Thanks for your time,
Brad

just add a term for the resistance to your standard equations of motion...

The air resistance or friction forces are usually taken as proportional to the velocity (unless there are any special circumstances).

The solution is straight forward once you know what term to add ...

The maximum distance for a javelin is from 36°.

Does anyone know what\'s the best angle for Earth\'s curved surface? If this is different from 45°, well that\'s another physics \"fact\" you can throw out.
