Mine is Feynman. I think he\'s the embodiment of a well rounded scientist with good humor and a life outside of science.

My favourite physicists would be Albert Einstein and Sir Isaac Newton, specially because of their extroardinary unique view on reality

Feynman...

Have to go with Feynman... \"Physics is like sex. Sure, there may be practical results, but thats not why we do it.\" At least he is certainly the most quotable...

I love that quote...I put it on the shirts at the little store I made with Cafexpress...

did you check out the mugs there? I made the pics myself... :coffee::grin:

My favorite is Einstein, This is because not only was he the subject of political debate but also managed to keep the most unbounded mind that i can even imagine. Without top class education he had the guts to believe in his own genius despite the overbearing critisism.

I hate to follow the crowd, but I\'m going with Feynman. He was great on so many different levels.

in my opinion, i have to say that Einstein is my favourite scientist because of the legacy he left, and he changed the field of physics forever.

you make a very good point :eureka:

Well, my vote will go to Feynman. Genius, but still humourist! :)

I would have to say Einstein- despite the fact that he had a hand in the discovery of the spliting of the atom-I think his discovery was misused. Also, I believe two German scientists were also working on the same project around the same time. So he should not take all the blame.:type:

Hmm, I suppose that does go with my username. :-)

Feynman himself wrote a number of books about his life: \"You must be joking, Mr. Feynman\" for example...

And reading his textbooks can also shed some light on how unique his way of thinking about physics was...

Nikola Tesla

Inventions: a telephone repeater, rotating magnetic field principle, polyphase alternating-current system, induction motor, alternating-current power transmission, Tesla coil transformer, wireless communication, radio, fluorescent lights, and more than 700 other patents.

He\'s my kind of Physicist.

I got a new one. Bohm. I\'m told that he\'s the only modern physicist with a deterministic quantum model.

Soon as I get some funds, I\'m going to order a few of his books. I believe he as three published.

BTW, most of you already know; I hold very deterministic viewpoints.

I have Bohm\'s book on quantum mechanics, and it is not what you\'d expect. Bohm does not go over deterministic quantum mechanics, but his book is about the probabilistic QM, so I\'d make sure you know what you\'re buying before you buy \'em. (It is a good book, though)

You\'re all wide of the mark. Sakharov was the greatest physicist. Despite being isolated by the Soviet system to a town where there was no communication with the outside world, he arrived at revolutionary views of inertia and gravity (pun intended) in the 1960s. He also worked on the Soviet nuclear program.
Anyway, he\'s my hero. (His views coincide with mine.)

My favourite person in both physics and math is Carl frederick Gauss. With out whom most things today would stil have to be discovered.

Dont think anyone can compare to him, even Einstein,
